A luxury pet spa and boutique has launched the ultimate treatment for pampered pooches. Yuppy Puppy, which is owned by Andri Xenos, is the first pet spa in the UK to offer Ahava mineral clay treatment for canines. According to the spa the mineral clay is essential in maintaining health hair, skin and joints. As such the treatment is beneficial not only as a beauty treatment to promote a glossy coat but also for medicinal purposes for dogs who suffer from skin conditions or arthritis. The mud-tastic treatment sees the cared for canines first covered in layers of soft, warmed clay before being wrapped in a special foil sheet to retain body heat. The pooch is then left to relax for 45 minutes while the clay works its magic. They are bathed and massaged gently to remove the clay before being dried and fluffed. Prices for the clay treatment range from GBP 60-GBP 150 depending on the size of dog. The spa also offers other doggy grooming treats, meaning they can also everything from a pedicure to a thorough teeth

Farmer Carol McGuire has drafted in llamas as unlikely security guards to protect her sheep from foxes. After sheepdogs proved useless she desperately needed some other method to keep her flock safe, and since investing in the exotic animals, who fend off predators by spitting, she hasn't lost any sheep. Carol said: 'Getting in llamas was the best thing I've ever done. The sheepdogs kept getting injured and they didn't bond with my sheep at all. But the llamas work because they think of the sheep as one of their own herd. They take extra special care of them'
