The newly-named Victoria boliviana has been sitting in Kewís Herbarium for 177 years but a team of Kew experts spearheaded by horticulturist Carlos Magdalena and botanical artist Lucy Smith, have now revealed it to be new to science ñ the first giant waterlily discovery in more than a century.
