Aisha Gaddafi - Daughter Of A Dictator
As the daughter of Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi, Aisha Gaddafi is no stranger to controversy.

Indeed the woman known as the "The Claudia Schiffer of North Africa" is not afraid to make her sometimes contentious beliefs known.

Following the death of her adopted sister Hanna, Aisha is Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi's only daughter from his eight children

The 33-year-old, who lives in Tripoli with her husband, a cousin of her father's, and their three children, is a lawyer by profession and is also a trained criminal psychologist.

She has previously spoken in support of her father's regime, claiming that his portrayal in the West is unfair and down to the 'political agenda' of some.

Showing her support for another famous Arab leader, three years ago she was on the legal team that defended ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

Previously, she has also backed Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al Megrahi, saying he deserves compensation for being locked up unjustly.

Meanwhile, the charity group that came out in defence of Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi after he hurled his shoe at then American president George W Bush in 2008 is said to be led by Aisha.

Like her father, in the past Aisha has also been a vocal backer of the IRA.

Conversely, she is also well known in Libya for promoting women's rights, particularly when it comes to domestic violence and honour crimes.

Last year she was appointed as a UN Goodwill Ambassador in recognition of her work raising awareness of women's rights, poverty and HIV.

COLONEL GADAFI SON BUYS GBP 10M LONDON MANSION

Colonel Gaddafi's son has reportedly brought a GBP 10m mansion in one of London's most exclusive areas.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi is now apparently the proud owner of a neo-Georgian eight-bedroom property in Hampstead, North London.

The property comes complete with a swimming pool, sauna room, Jacuzzi and suede-lined cinema room.

It is protected by state-of-the-art CCTV cameras and a private security team.

Most recently Said was seen accompanying freed Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Al Megrahi from England back to Libya on one of his father's planes.

The 36-year-old is Colonel Gaddafi's favourite son and his most likely heir.

He prompted outrage recently by claiming that Al Megrahi's release was linked to oil and gas negotiations discussed by Tony Blair when he visited Libya as Prime Minister.

Saif also has links to Business Secretary Lord Mandelson, with whom he allegedly discussed Megrahi's case with just weeks before he was released.

He has also held several meetings with the Duke of York, having visited both Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi greets Muammar Gaddafi
Leader of Libya Muammar Gaddafi arriving at Ciampino Airport, Rome, Italy - 10 Jun 2009
Italian leader Silvio Berlsuconi today controversially greeted the arrival of his Libyan counterpart, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, at Rome's Ciampino airport. Gaddafi touched down with 300 other delegates to mark the re-strengthening of ties between the two nations. The Libyan leader's trip will include a meeting with 700 of Italy's leading women in the fields of politics, business and culture. However, he is likely to encounter a considerable amount of protest and unrest from various communities, such as civil rights groups, students and Rome's Jews, some of whom were expelled from Libya 40 years ago. The two countries last year signed an agreement in which Italy will compensate Libya for its 30-year occupation. The 5 billion dollar package involves construction projects, student grants and pensions for Libyan soldiers who served with the Italians during World War II. In return, Libya agreed to crack down on illegal migrants smuggled each year across the Mediterranean to Italy.
