CIVIC , MILITARY PAGEANTRY AT OPENING OF LONDON'S SAVINGS DRIVE
Mayors of nearly 60 Greater London boroughs took part in the inaugural ceremony at Trafalgar Square, London today of London's effort in the weeks nationwide campaign launched by the National savings committee.
Assembled in the square for 500 pre-service cadets of the Navy, Army and Air Force and the massed bands of the lifeguards and Royal horse guards.
The savings drive, first since 1945, is intended to draw attention to workers' savings groups and recruit more regular savers.
PICTURE SHOWS:-The Mayor of Westminster, Colonel J. Allan Mulholland , M.B.E., M.C., J.P., as he inspected the 500 pre-service cadets at today's ceremony.

FIRST SEA LORD INSPECTS CADET GUARD IN ' TRAFALGAR DAY ' CEREMONY
London today marked Trafalgar Day the anniversary of Nelson 's victory over the French and Spanish on October 21, 1805 with the annual Navy league ceremony at the foot of Nelsons column in Trafalgar Square.
The ceremony was attended by Admiral of the fleet Lord Fraser, the first sea Lord, and wreaths were laid on behalf of Commonwealth countries.

QUEEN'S DRESSMAKER DESIGNS NEW UNIFORMS FOR WRAC
New uniforms for the women's Royal army corps and the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army nursing corps was shown at Whitehall Place, London, today.
The uniforms were designed by Norman Hartnell , the Queens dressmaker.
PICTURE SHOWS:- Norman Hartnell shows the original drawings of the new uniform to girls who modelled outfits.
The girls are - left to right-Junior commander Partridge; Sergeant Alexis Wright (wearing uniforms for WRAC officers and other ranks): and Junior commander Heyman and SUBALTERN STENNING (showing the nurses new outfits).

WRACS HAVE NEW UNIFORM - IN BOTTLE GREEN
New uniforms for the women's Royal army corps and the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army nursing corps was shown at Whitehall Place, London, today.
PICTURE SHOWS:- The smart new uniforms - in bottle green - for WRAC officers and other ranks. This ceremonial dress consists for officers of bottle green jacket and skirt in barathea : for other ranks the material is serge.
All officers where a beech Brown Rayon sash two inches in width, while other ranks were a belt of the same colour, but in light-weight webbing.
The peak cap is in bottle green fur felt for officers, and in wool felt for other ranks. Officers of the rank of senior commander and above have a half-inch gold braid band on the peak.
The uniforms were designed by Norman Hartnell, the Queens dressmaker.

WRACS HAVE NEW UNIFORM - IN BOTTLE GREEN
New uniforms for the women's Royal army corpse and the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army nursing corpse was shown at Whitehall Place, London, today.
PICTURE SHOWS:- Sergeant Alexis Wright shows the walking out dress for WRAC other ranks. She wears bottle green serge beret, bottle green jacket and skirt in serge. The jacket has three cross cut seams across the front and the
' skir t' of the jacket is cut convex, similar to that of the Scottish regiments. The skirt is four-gored while in front there is a centre seam resembling a pleat and matching the cross-cut scenes of the jacket. The belt is the same material as the uniform with two-pronged gilt metal buckle.
