Making the most of the lunch hour.
Popular lunchtime occupation among inside office workers , both male and female in New York Cioty , is to make use of folding reflectors lined with aluminium foil . Thin Peter
Wanted: ‘Thin boy who does not like biscuits’. That was the advertisement that led to 15 year old Peter Durbridge taking one of the oddest jobs ever at Huntley and Palmers biscuit factory, Reading, Berkshire, England. His job is to be lowered through 14 inch holes in huge water tanks to pack biscuits.
Millions of biscuits exported to such parts of the world as Borneo, Zanzibar and Aden are packed in the tanks to save storage space aboard the ships. When they arrive overseas the biscuits are unloaded and the water tanks sold as another export.
Fat boy Goerge Holmes gets stuck - to the amusement of Peter, Colin, Charles and another packer.(original caption)

' DIAMOND ' DOG IS BRILLIANT

Fearlessly ignoring the searing flames, this guard dog of the De Beers diamond mines shows one brilliant facet of its work as it leaps a blazing obstacle in a night-time display at Cape Town, South Africa. CANDIDATE ON THE BOX

A lively piece of 19th-century England rowed through the East London, where Mrs. M. de la Motte , Conservative candidate for West Ham (south) brought out the 100-year-old London to Brighton Stagecoach for and Eve-of-poll canvas of her constituents . The coach, drawn by 4 horses, weaved through the trolley-buses and trucks in one of the busiest areas of modern London.

PICTURE SHOWS:- From the box of the old stage-coach, Mrs.M. de la Motte addresses her constituents - using the modern microphone. Alongside her is driver Dave Jacobs.

    JET-PROPELLED ' WINDMILL ' GIRL

Skating on thin ice is vivacious, red-haired, 19-year-old Anita D' Ray, one of the famous Windmill theatre, London, girls, experimenting with a new idea of jet propulsion by attaching fireworks to her skates.
there is nothing this Windmill girl won't experiment with, it seems.

Anita D'Ray ' scorching ' on the ice at Richmond ice rink, Surrey, making a pretty picture whether or not the cause of jet science is being advanced.
