Tigers let injured vulture get away, Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh, India - 2012

The Merciful Tigers: Predators Let Young Vulture Get Away
These stunning images show a young vulture looking like it is about to become a tiger's lunch - only to be allowed to escape.
Wildlife photographer Santosh Saligram captured the amazing scene as three tigers looked set for an easy meal.
He took these shots of a tigress and her two female juveniles in the wild at Bandhavgarh national park in central India.
Santosh explains: "The resident tigress and two of her female cubs were cooling off in the water of the famous Rajbehra Dam area.
"Suddenly, one of the tigresses noticed something on a rock at the corner and both the sisters went off to investigate.
"They reappeared shortly, following a juvenile long-billed vulture which seemed to have lost its way from its nest and incapacitated in some way.
"Threatened by the tigers, it tried to fly but only managed to flop down into the water. One of the tigresses then approached the vulture from the other side in a curious way.
"The vulture opened its beak wide in defence, hoping to put the tiger off, which it successfully did.
"Slowly, it started creeping towards the bank and after some time, climbed up the bank and disappeared into the bush. It was amazing, I have never seen anything like this happen in the wild."

The Family Left on the Moon
It's a little known fact but a family has been on the moon for 40 years.
Apollo 16 astronaut Charles Duke didn't just leave footprints when he visited the lunar surface, he left a photograph of his family.
On 23 April 1972, on his third and final mission, Duke and fellow astronaut John Young were exploring in the Descartes Highlands in the Lunar Rover.
It was there that the Lunar Module pilot left a plastic-wrapped portrait of him and his wife and their two sons, Thomas and Charles, sitting on a bench.
Duke photographed the personal snap with a Hasselblad camera as it rested on the dusty surface next to one of his boot prints.
The amazing image was unearthed in the Project Apollo Image Archive.
Charles "Charlie" Duke landed on the Moon in 1972 during the Apollo 16 mission, the fifth Moon landing.
Duke had served as CAPCOM (capsule communicator) during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. His job was to speak to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin during their historic landing.

Hitchhiking Cheetah Ready For Its Close-Up
Cheetah poses for unsuspecting tourists after it jumped onto the roof of their vehicle.
A tour group got the shock of their lives when a cheetah climbed on top of their Land Rover, while on safari in the Masai Mara, southwest Kenya.
Keeping their eyes and ears pricked for the annual wildebeest migration the group were taken aback when a curious cheetah clambered onto their vehicle to see what was so fascinating.
Once the tourists had gotten over the initial shock of a large, wild cat sat above them with only a thin sheet of canvas for protection, they began to take photographs knowing this was likely to be the closest they would ever get to a cheetah again.
Ed Brown, a professional photographer from Sevenoaks in Kent, was watching the unusual scene from the other safari vehicle and caught the whole thing on camera.
He said: "We had been sitting watching the cheetah and her cub in some bushes. After a while she moved out into the open so she was looking directly at us. It was then, when she jumped up onto the other vehicle for a better look around, I've heard of this happening before but didn't expect to see it for myself!
Ed claims the occupants of the vehicle were surprisingly undaunted by the situation but said there was a big collective sigh of relief when the cheetah jumped off.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and trainer Tracy Anderson
leaving the gym
Gwyneth Paltrow joins Madonna on a visit to her gym, London, Britain - 16 Apr 2008
It was round three for gym girls Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow as the stars were seen leaving Madonna's gym, which is located directly next to her house, for the third day in a row. The keep-fit fanatic bought the 10-bed Georgian house for GBP 6 million in January for the sole purpose of turning it into her own luxury private gym. Normally she can be spotted going it alone but in recent days has teamed up with gym buddy Paltrow. Maybe joining 'bionic body' Madonna is the only way that Gwyneth can get a look in with fitness guru Tracy Anderson, who is Madonna's personal trainer but who Gwyneth found first. After giving birth to baby Moses in 2006 it was pint-sized Tracy who helped Gwyneth get in shape for her next movie role. Tracy has now been working with Madonna, who turns 50 in August, six days a week for the past year.
