Hair-Raising Gazelle
When veteran wildlife photographer Paolo Torchio captured this strange, hairy animal on camera people thought he was telling a shaggy dog story.
The unusually bearded creature was caught on camera for the first time and had experts baffled as to what it was.
Paolo, 49, who took the photos on Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve and has lived and worked in the area for two decades, had never seen anything like it.
However, experts have now identified it as a Thomson's gazelle - a type of antelope - but are baffled as to what has made it so hirsute.
One theory is it is suffering from 'werewolf syndrome', or hypertrichosis, a condition that affects humans and animals and is a genetic slip-up that causes excess hair all over the body.
Italian photographer Paolo is an expert in the wildlife that roam the nearly 600 square mile game reserve and was shocked to see the fury gazelle.
He said: "I was wondering, what is this dog doing? And when it came out from the grass, that was a surprise."
The animal that emerged from the tall grass was obviously not a dog and had all the markings of a Thomson's gazelle.
However, in contrast to the sleek gazelles in its company, this animal was covered in a strange, thick coat of hair.
Torchio crept alongside the shaggy creature for 15 minutes, snapping pictures, but eventually the spooked animal ran off.
He spent the next five days trying to find the gazelle, but to no avail.
He said: "The funny aspect was that it wasn't affecting the relations with the other gazelles.
"There was no problem between her and the other one."

Man Grows Mammoth Marrow
A gardener from south Wales is celebrating after growing a simply massive marrow.
Phillip Vowles, 61, of Tylacoch, Llanharry, grew the monster 112lb (51kg) vegetable in just six weeks.
And it would have grown even larger if it weren't for the fact he was forced to cut it after it began to split.
As such the keen gardener, who has been growing giant vegetables for more than 25 years, was unable to match the current world record of 206.5lb (93.7kg).
That was set last year by Brad Wursten of the Netherlands, beating the previous record set by Briton Ken Dade and his 143lb (65kg) marrow.
So, although he couldn't quite manage the world record at least Philip can console himself with the thought he is the proud owner of the 2nd largest marrow in Britain.
And he isn't beaten yet; ahead of next month's Llanharry Giant Vegetable Show he has vowed to keep growing in an effort to produce an even more mammoth marrow.

The world's largest egg has gone on sale for GBP 5,000. The 13in tall egg is currently on show at the Chelsea Antiques Fair before being auctioned off. The rare egg was laid by a Great Elephant Bird in Madagascar almost 400 years ago. These 10ft tall birds, which were wiped out by hunters in the mid-1600s, produced the biggest eggs of any creature, including dinosaurs. The egg is bigger than a rugby ball and around 300 times the size of a hen's egg; it measures more than 3ft round its circumference. The egg is being sold by its current owner, antique dealer John Shepherd, who bought it after seeing David Attenborough discover one while filming in Madagascar.
