Her 60th birthday, and a day of smiles today (Thursday) for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother ... Baby Prince Andrew (born on February 19th this year) chuckles delightedly on her lap as she sits in the garden of Clarence House, London. On either side are her elder grandchildren, the 11 year old prince of Wales and Princess Anne, who celebrates her 10th birthday on August 15th. The royal children were visiting their grandmother to present birthday greetings. And one of the Queen Mother's corgis is seen joining in the proceedings - 4th August 1960.

In 1969 thousands sat glued to their television screens as a documentary lifted the lid on the Royal Family for the first time. Viewers around the world were enthralled by 'Royal Family', which took a behind-the-scenes look at the Windsors. BBC stills photographer Joan Williams was offered an even more intimate glimpse than most into this hithero unseen world. As the only photographer attached to the documentary team she produced a candid collection of images that revealed the Royal Family in a whole new light. Over the course of a year Joan spent 39 days with the documentary crew and Royal Family. During this time she shot the Queen and other Royals at official events, but her most fascinating photos showed them relaxed and at rest.

'Knit Your Own Royal Wedding' by Fiona Goble, Britain - 11 Mar 2011

Help William And Kate Tie The Knit
If you haven't received an invitation to the royal wedding there's no need to despair - as now you can knit your own.
An unusual souvenir book has been published full of patterns detailing how to knit ten 'characters' from Prince William and Kate Middleton's big day.
This includes the bride and groom themselves, the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, his wife Camilla and best man Prince Harry.
The intricate designs see Prince William in full uniform, including blue Garter sash and Golden Jubilee medal.
Meanwhile, Kate's diamond and sapphire engagement ring and a tiny tiara are also faithfully depicted in wool.
There is also design for the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams who will marry the couple on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.
And you can even knit your own corgi - the monarch's favourite breed of dog
The knitting patterns are all contained in the 64 page manual 'Knit Your Own Royal Wedding' by Fiona Goble, which retails for GBP 9.99.
The book also contains instructions on how to create customised guests, enabling you to knit yourself into proceedings.
And once you've created the cast of characters you can pose them against a backdrop of Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace's famous balcony.
According to publisher Ivy Press: "This piece of yarn pageantry is funny, charming and easy enough for even a novice to tackle".

Party Like A Royal With Pippa
With the launch of her new party planning book it would seem that Pippa Middleton is keen to demonstrate her tips for the perfect bash.
The Duchess of Cambridge's sister is snapped dressed as a bunny girl passing round nibbles, revealing her sneaky Iceland supermarket secret and gift wrapping a corgi.
However, take a closer look and the secret behind the shots is revealed - they're taken using lookalikes.
The snaps are the handiwork of Alison Jackson, who is renowned for her elaborate and often believable 'spoof' photos, which use lookalikes to give a 'behind-the-scenes' insight into the world of celebrities and Royals.
Pippa's new book, called 'Celebrate', has been billed as a guide to 'creative entertaining' and describes how to plan parties and family gatherings.
It features recipes, tips and advice for parties and events such as Halloween and Bonfire night.

The Queen look-alike
A Royal Christmas Before Baby Makes Three
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge certainly have a lot to celebrate this Christmas - with a Royal baby expected next year.
Alison Jackson, who is renowned for her elaborate and often believable 'spoof' photos, has imagined just what will be happening in the Royal household this festive season.
The artist uses lookalikes to offer a 'behind-the-scenes' insight into the world of celebrities and Royals.
And the latest couple to receive her attention are Prince William and his pregnant wife Catherine.
The pair are seen enjoying a cosy Christmas for two - excitedly opening presents before Kate serves up Xmas dinner.
Afterwards they then settle down for a cosy evening on the sofa watching grandma on the TV and reliving their wedding day.
Meanwhile, over at Buckingham Palace the Queen is seen playing with a Santa hat wearing Corgi.
However, looking forward to the future Alison shows that this will be Wills and Kate's last Christmas as a pair, with the Duke seen lovingly stroking his wife's pregnant belly.

Grandparents create mini Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car for granddaughter, Isle Wight, Britain - 16 Apr 2013
Mandatory Credit: Photo by P V Balcombe / Rex Features (2302492k)
A Truly Scrumptious Car For A 3-Year-Old
Three-year-old Indiya Tasker is seen driving a truly scumptious car - a miniature Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car built by her grandparents.
Nick Pointing spent hundreds of hours creating the magical car, which includes fold-out wings, with the help of wife Carolyn.
It's based on the world-famous vehicle driven by Dick Van Dyke in the blockbuster movie of 1968.
And Nick and Carolyn have some experience in this area.
In 2007 they built a full-sized Chitty - using an old Land Rover chassis - which they drove to Australia, raising over GBP 10,000 for various charities.
Nick said: "Indiya loves the film and thinks we have the real movie car in our garage!
"So I decided the best birthday present we could give her would be a scaled-down version, that she could safely drive herself.
"Originally I thought of a simple peddle car, but as you can see, I got more ambitious."
The mini-Chitty took two years to build at the Pointing's home on the Isle of Wight.
Nick concentrated on the engineering while Carolyn, 48, made the red leather chesterfield seats and varnished the wooden boat tail.
Nick added: "The car is 11 feet long and built on a ride-on lawn mower chassis, with wings fitted where the cutting blades used to be.
"The boat-shaped rear is made from hardwood boat-building timber, with the bonnet cut from sheet aluminium".
The gleaming, vintage brass front headlamps cost just GBP 20 at a local auto jumble. Other parts were adapted from anything the couple could find.
"The front and rear fenders are built from a lounge bench seat, with the rear lights made from the inner workings of old Land Rover brakes," Nick said.
"Brass and red leather came from an auto jumble and other parts were adapted from anything I could find as in the spirit of the film.

Behind The Scenes at Kate's Royal Baby Shower
Typically they're an American affair, but baby showers are becoming ever more popular in Britain and it would seem that even the Duchess of Cambridge is getting in on the trend!
Or is she? Catherine is spotted surrounded by the important women in her life - including mother Carole, sister Pippa and her grandmother-in-law the Queen.
Cradling her baby bump she happily unwraps a host of pressies as Camilla Duchess of Cornwall cuddles a corgi and Her Majesty scoffs a cupcake.
Meanwhile, the guests all toast the upcoming arrival with a glass of alcohol-free Shloer. However, take a closer look and the secret behind the baby shower is revealed - they're all lookalikes.
The images are the work of Alison Jackson who is renowned for her elaborate and often believable 'spoof' productions, which give an imaginary behind-the-scenes insight into the world of celebrities and Royals

To celebrate the release of Season 12 of the hit US animation on DVD, the creators of Family Guy have given their very unique take on the royal christening in an exclusive illustration. The formal royal portrait sees Stewie taking centre stage as usual, whilst Prince George is nowhere to be seen.
