A phone charger that looks like a toaster is able to deliver a full battery in just two seconds.
Users drop their device into the machine’s slot just like putting a slice of bread into a real toaster.
Almost instantly, a flat battery in the phone is replaced by one already charged.
That’s because to use the device, phones get a special protective case called a Link that contains an extra battery.
Putting a phone into the hub removes the original Link and replaces it with a fully charged one thanks to an internal conveyor system.
It then automatically starts the charging process on the flat Link pack.
The makers , based in Galway, Ireland, say the speed-swapping process takes just two seconds.
The team behind the Swippitt IPS says their device does away with cables and waiting hours for a full battery refill.

A solar power harvesting robot that can be hailed to deliver power for devices when needed, has been revealed.

The autonomous Solar Mars Bot combines photovoltaic and energy storage then turn it into a service robot.

Rather than static solar panels, the bot would be able to move around to ensure it is always in the best place to take advantage of the sun’s rays.

It features photovoltaic panels with an automatic light tracking system to maximise power generation without human intervention on sunny days.

The top part is equipped with six folding photovoltaic panels which remain shut when not in use.

This robot is designed to locate the best angle for soaking up the sun by using the light-tracking sensor.

When in optimum position, the solar panels unfold and start absorbing energy.

Whenever the Solar Mars. Bot is needed a user can hail it using an app.

A solar powered lunch box is promising to keep food hot or cold – depending on what is required.Sunnyside has a self-heating and cooling feature that ensures meals are at the right temperature just before eating. A heating coil around the metal container helps evenly conduct thermal energy around the food, keeping hot stuff hot.But for a salad for example, three fans located on the bottom of the lunchbox draw out warm air, ensuring your food doesn’t spoil in the heat. An internal thermometer keeps a tab on the temperature and shuts it down automatically if it goes beyond a set point. The whole thing is powered by a solar panel built into the lid.The Sunnyside is said to be leak-proof and has a modular divider to help organise lunch. A tiny LCD screen and buttons on the side help users control how hot or cool they want the contents to be. An internal thermometer allows you to constantly gauge food temperature, which gets displayed on the small screen. The temperature can also be controlled using an app.The internal battery also doubles up as a wireless power bank to charge your phones, AirPods, or even a laptop.
