Carlo III (Londra, 14 novembre 1948) è il re del Regno Unito di Gran Bretagna e Irlanda del Nord e degli altri quattordici reami del Commonwealth. Figlio maggiore della regina Elisabetta II e del marito Filippo di Edimburgo, appartiene al casato Windsor, che ha mantenuto tale denominazione per decreto reale anche dopo il matrimonio della madre. È il primo monarca britannico a discendere dalla regina Vittoria attraverso due linee di successione: da parte di madre, attraverso Edoardo VII, Giorgio V e Giorgio VI, e da parte di padre, attraverso la nonna, la principessa Alice di Battenberg, bisnipote della regina Vittoria. Ha avuto due matrimoni: con Diana Spencer (1981), dalla quale divorziò nel 1996, e con Camilla Shand (2005). È stato Duca di Cornovaglia e Duca di Rothesay dal 1952 e Duca di Edimburgo dal 2021 fino all'ascesa al trono nel 2022.
