    2nd March 2025

300 orange balloons were released today in memory of the Bibas family who were tragically kidnapped & murdered by Hamas terrorists as part of the Gaza war hostage crisis

The family were kidnapped from Nir Oz, Israel on 7th October 2023

The Nir Oz attack, part of the 7 October 2023 attacks that began the Gaza war, Palestinian militants kidnapped the Bibas family from their home at the Nir Oz kibbutz in southern Israel

The family, which held multiple citizenship of Israel, Argentina, and Germany comprised 34-year-old Yemenite Jew Yarden, his 32-year-old wife Shiri, their sons, 4-year-old Ariel and 9-month-old Kfir

All four family members were held hostage in the Gaza Strip. Yarden Bibas was abducted separately from his wife and children and held by Hamas, while Shiri Bibas and her children were reportedly held by another militant group, the Mujahideen Brigades. Ariel and Kfir Bibas, the two youngest hostages taken from Israel on 7 October, came to be regarded as symbols of the Gaza war hostage crisis.

Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas were all murdered whilst Yarden Bibas was released on 1st February 2025.

Aerial photographs show the Río Tinto river in Spain, which crosses an ancient mining site and makes the water turn a variety of bright colours. Copper, silver and gold are mined here, as well as iron which turns the water red.

An ochre mix is responsible for the yellow tint of the rest of the river, which is crossed by roads which allow travel across the site. Olivier Jarry-Lacombe took these photos at the Río Tinto mine site, which has been in use since 3000BC.

Fashion in Motion: Orange Culture. Orange Culture, brainchild of Nigerian born fashion designer Adebayo Oke-Lawal, is set to take over the V&A’s Raphael Court, as the focal point of the next iteration of the museum’s Fashion in Motion series. Making its debut at the V&A, this collection of Orange Culture explores the battle for acceptance faced by migrants settling in a new country, alongside the journey that one must take to create a version of home in a new destination and find community.

Acclaimed by celebrities and critics alike, Orange Culture has been worn by names such as Ncuti Gatwa, Kelly Rowland, Lupita Nyongo, Dua Lipa, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and lauded by publications such as Vogue, Huffington Post, New York Times, CNN, BET, Vanity Fair, ELLE and Marie Claire.
