PARENTS HIRE DRUG DOGS TO NOSE AROUND TEENS' ROOMS
While an Englishman's home is his castle a teenager's bedroom is often a fortress many fear to enter.
But parents could find a new ally in drug-busting cocker spaniel Holly if they fear their children are involved with illegal substances.
Concerned parents can call upon the services of a licensed, civilian drug detection company to carry out discreet searches of the family home to either ease their worry or confirm their dread.
"If a parent has a concern over drugs it will nag away at them for a long time and can cause internal family friction. A quick discreet search of the family home could confirm or assure them." says Trevor Hutchinson, Operations Director for Chilport UK, the company offering the service.
"If drugs are found we have a whole range of drug community support contacts at our disposal to pass on to parents to help them deal with that scenario."
Chilport UK, based on Portland in Dorset, is offering the service following requests from a friend of a staff member who feared one of their family was getting involved with the wrong crowd and bringing home drugs to use or store for friends.
The company has been training drug and explosive detection dogs for more than twenty years and has dogs that can detect a whole range of illicit substances.
They have the required licences to hold items for training and dogs are currently used in commercial and medical facilities to check for drugs.
According to the company, they can also easily perform the procedure in family homes, helping reassure parents who may not want to confront their offspring in the normal way.
