Condiment maker Heinz has placed pop-up ketchup dispensers outside restaurants that don’t serve it.

It was inspired by a survey which the company said showed nearly four out of five people (88%) prefer Heinz Ketchup over other makes when eating out.

Heinz has now rolled out a creative campaign called Smack for Heinz in the USA.

These take the form of smackable boards dispensing sachets of ketchup outside restaurants not serving the fan-favourite sauce.

In an homage to the Heinz bottle, users smack the bottom of an upturned jar and the sachets drop down for collection.

The pop-ups have been installed initially in Chicago,  which Heinz claims is known for ketchup controversy.
