Crossroads: The pioneering female taxi drivers of India - Nov 2015
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rloe

A fascinating photo project shows the pioneering women of India training to be taxi drivers.

Photographer Claudio Montesano Casillas' Crossroads series documents the courage of females entering a traditionally male-dominated occupation.

He worked with non-profit organisation "Women on Wheels", which empowers resource poor women to become professional drivers to enable them to gain remunerative ?livelihoods with dignity?.

Claudio's images show the ladies learning skills ranging from changing tyres to self-defense techniques.

He explains: "This photo reportage is a testimony of the courage of some women in New Delhi and Jaipur (India) who despite going against all odds, chose a different road to re-craft their own destiny."

School for the disabled, Srinagar, Kashmir - 01 Sep 2015
Abhedananda Home, a school for deaf and dumb along with blind students in Srinagar the summer capital of Indian controlled Kashmir is finding hard to run the institution owing to lack of funds after the government stopped the grants to it. This school that was established in 1941 presently teaches 100 such special children. The school was severely damaged in last years September floods which killed over 200 and damaged property costing billions of dollars. The government declined any help to restore the infrastructure at this school, school authorities said. Disability is an important public health problem especially in developing countries like India where a majority of the disabled resides where accessibility, availability, and utilization of rehabilitation services and its cost-effectiveness are the major issues to be considered

Man teaches daughter photography by creating quirky scenes with her dinosaur toys, Halifax, Canada - 27 Nov 2015
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rmov

A man teaches his daughter photography by making quirky scenes with her dinosaur toys.

Jeff Friesen, 44, of Halifax, Canada, comes up with ideas for funny shoots with nine-year-old June.

The results include a T-Rex on a BMX, a Ddilophosaurus on a skateboard, a Velociraptor in an office and a T-Rex family decorating a Christmas tree.

He explains: "I teach my daughter photography by using her various toys to create dioramas that we take pictures of. In this case, an unlikely mix of plastic dinosaurs and dollhouse furniture create fiercely domestic situations.

"Each scene takes about a day to create and photograph, with a lot of trial and error. The main goal is getting a laugh.

"My daughter loves the resulting dinosaur photos. She comes up with some really abstract ideas for scenes, and I add my own "adult" ideas, such as the homages to Frank Lloyd Wright and Van Gogh."
