Work has begun on the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide around the Orbit tower at The Olympic Park in London. Specialist abseilers have been lifting the first parts of the 178-METRE long slide into place today, ready for it to open to visitors early this summer. The slide, which will wrap around the Orbit 12 times, has been billed as "London's most spectacular and thrilling new attraction" and will see visitors reach speeds of up to 15mph during the 40-second descent. The giant GBP 3.5 million slide, which has been created by Belgian artist Carsten Hoeller, is being constructed from transparent panels so users can view the London skyscape as they zoom down. Peter Tudor, director of visitor services at the Olympic Park, said: "What more exciting way to descend the ArcelorMittal Orbit than on the world's longest and tallest tunnel slide.

    Surf's Up For Daredevil Photographer
A daredevil photographer has gone to extraordinary lengths to take pictures inside waves.

Ray Collins' breathtaking shots reveal the giant rollers in all their glory.

The 28-year-old takes incredible risks to get the perfect picture of the walls of water as they hurtle towards the shore.

Armed with a camera, protected with a special waterproofing casing, he and his surfer friends take on waves as high as 15 feet.

They are towed in to the wave with a jet ski and then have to quickly get in to position to capture it as it starts to break.

One incredible picture shows Ray's friend Eddie Blackwell as he surfs through an enormous tunnel of water near Sydney, Australia.

Another shows the photographer dwarfed by a huge wave near his home in Woolagong

Ray said: "You need the wave to be perfect and your positioning to be perfect for it to work.

"It can be pretty dangerous, I've been hit on the head a few times with my camera and it's not a nice feeling when you're underwater, getting thrashed about.

"It can take a lot of beatings and steep learning curves before you start to see results but I hope my pictures are worth it in the end.

"The reaction has been really positive. The shots gives people who don't surf a chance to see what we see."

Ray said he had been fascinated with the sea from an early age but started focusing on his photography after an accident while working in a coal mine.

He explained: "I've grown up in and around the ocean my whole life and always had an interest in photography but the turning point was when I was injured in a coal mine.

"I had a workplace accident and injured my knee pretty badly and I couldn't walk or do much else.

"I had a lot of downtime so I bought a camera, read the manual every day, st...

    Ke$ha We R Who We R
November 01st, 2010 Los Angeles, California. ***EXCLUSIVE*** Ke$ha films a music video for "We R Who We R", a song she wrote in response to the recent gay youth suicides and bullying. Ke$ha was seen looking sexy and hard edged on the set of the Hype Williams directed music video. Ke$ha wore silver lipstick, sexy boots, a chain with locks, bullets, torn leggings and an outfit that looked like a broken mirror. She danced and performed all night long with "her crew" of diverse girls in a Downtown LA street tunnel which was rigged with fire and explosions to go off as the girls walked and danced through the Tunnel. There was also a car drag race scene filmed in the tunnel. Photo by Eric Ford/ On Location News.

Ronaldo's mangled Ferrari, Portugal and Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has written off his Ferrari sports car after crashing into a roadside barrier in a tunnel near Manchester Airport. The car was badly damaged when it was involved in the smash at 10.20am on the A538 Wilmslow Road, but the 23-year-old footballer was not injured. His car crashed in the tunnel which takes traffic under the airport runways between Wilmslow and Hale, Cheshire
Cristiano Ronaldo Writes Off His Ferrari
CRISTIANO RONALDO WRITES OFF HIS FERRARI

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has written off his Ferrari sports car in a tunnel under Manchester airport's runways.

The 23-year-old drove into barriers in the underpass at about 10.20 this morning (Jan 8) on the A538 Altrincham Road as he was being followed by his team-mate, Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar, although the latter was not involved in the crash.

The morning after his team had lost 1-0 to Derby County in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final, Ronaldo was not injured in the crash and gave a negative breath test to officers after they arrived at the scene.

According to onlookers, he drove straight into the wall of the tunnel, detaching the front left-side wheel, after which the player got out of the car, shaken but unharmed.

This incident is far from being the first occasion that Ronaldo has shown little respect for his ride: after only a year after joining the club in 2003, he had already damaged four Audis, but showed little remorse or worry, knowing that he would receive a replacement straight away:

At the time he admitted: "When you use a hire car you don't worry about pot-holes or anything like that. I know if a vehicle gets damaged there will be someone else to pay for it."

We dread to think how high his insurance p...
