June 4, 2018 - Kilauea, Oahu, Hawaii, Honolulu: Overflight photograph at approximately 6:13 a.m. HST shows the lava flow originating from Fissure 8 (not visible in photograph) entering Kapoho Bay. The ocean entry was reported to have occurred by 10:30 p.m. on the night of June 3, 2018. Kilauea volcano began a once-in-a-century-scale eruption on May 3. Magma has drained from Kilauea's summit lava lake and flowed around 25 miles east underground, bursting out of about two dozen giant cracks or fissures near the plant. Over the weekend, there were more than 250 earthquakes at Kilauea's summit, with four explosions on Saturday sending ash as high as 12,000-15,000 feet.
