The trial of those accused of killing British student Meredith Kercher is drawing to a close, with both sides making last minutes pleas.
Ms Kercher, a 21-year-old student from Coulsdon, Surrey, was found semi-naked with her throat slit in a house in Perugia, Italy, in November 2007.
Accused of the killing are her housemate Amanda Knox and Knox's former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, along with a third man who has already been convicted of the murder, Rudy Guede.
The prosecution in the case allege that Knox stabbed Ms Kercher, while Sollecito held her down after a sex game went wrong.
Speaking today (3 December) the lawyer for Ms Kercher's family said that the three went so far with torturing the student that they had to kill her.
"Meredith was killed because she knew all three of her attackers," said Francesco Maresca.
"The murder happened step by step, (it started with) sexual violence and then murder."
Both Knox and Sollecito deny the charges against them.
Also speaking today Sollecito, 25, said he was not a violent person and insisted he was 'not a dog on a lead' who was at Knox's beck and call.
"Why would I want to commit something so horrible as murder?" he questioned.
"I pray every day that the real culprit will confess," he added. "This trial is now finishing and I am asking you to save my life".
Yesterday Knox's lawyer Luciano Ghirga broke down in tears as he described how Knox's character has been wilfully misrepresented.
He said that female police officers involved in the case "had it in" for Knox "just because she had condoms and a vibrator in her beauty case".
He also pleaded with the jury to "give [Knox] her life back".

MEREDITH KERCHER MURDER TRIAL DRAWS TO A CLOSE
The trial of those accused of killing British student Meredith Kercher is drawing to a close, with both sides making last minutes pleas.
Ms Kercher, a 21-year-old student from Coulsdon, Surrey, was found semi-naked with her throat slit in a house in Perugia, Italy, in November 2007.
Accused of the killing are her housemate Amanda Knox and Knox's former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, along with a third man who has already been convicted of the murder, Rudy Guede.
The prosecution in the case allege that Knox stabbed Ms Kercher, while Sollecito held her down after a sex game went wrong.
Speaking today (3 December) the lawyer for Ms Kercher's family said that the three went so far with torturing the student that they had to kill her.
"Meredith was killed because she knew all three of her attackers," said Francesco Maresca.
"The murder happened step by step, (it started with) sexual violence and then murder."
Both Knox and Sollecito deny the charges against them.
Also speaking today Sollecito, 25, said he was not a violent person and insisted he was 'not a dog on a lead' who was at Knox's beck and call.
"Why would I want to commit something so horrible as murder?" he questioned.
"I pray every day that the real culprit will confess," he added. "This trial is now finishing and I am asking you to save my life".
Yesterday Knox's lawyer Luciano Ghirga broke down in tears as he described how Knox's character has been wilfully misrepresented.
He said that female police officers involved in the case "had it in" for Knox "just because she had condoms and a vibrator in her beauty case".
He also pleaded with the jury to "give [Knox] her life back".
