Gandalf is a true adventurer and likes to explore his surroundings
Gandalf the travelling cat - Jan 2016
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rttd

Gandalf is a cat like no other: he loves to travel the world and has been to two countries and nine US states so far.

Gandalf, or 'Ganddy' is a two-year-old Siberian cat, living in California with his humans.

Gandalf's owners said: "We were inspired by Gandalf's curiosity and bravery! He is ambitious, a go getter, and loves non-stop adventure.

"Everything he sees or smells is exciting to him and that really changed how we look at the world. We were so jaded before Gandalf came into our lives!"

One may be feathered and the other furred but Willow and Merlin are the beast of friends. Barn owl Willow loves nothing better than hitching a lift on Lurcher Merlin's back. The unlikely couple are now a familiar sight at the Pen y Bryn Falconry centre in North Wales. The pair became firm friends three months ago when Willow's handler Lowri Peacock began combining the bird's daily exercise with Merlin's walk.

    Petrol Head Pooch
A petrol head pooch is living life in the fast lane after his motorbike-mad owners bought him his own sidecar.

Harley, a 17-month-old St Bernard, even has his own crash hat and doggles to go "motorbarking" on the side of the Honda Gold Wing 1200 at speeds of up to 55mph.

Owners Alan and Tina Valkeith, who are both retired, bought the bike and side car because they couldn't bear to leave 12-stone Harley at home when they went out.

Now the thrill-seeking pup accompanies them on two or three outings a week shopping and has even gone for a seaside day trip to Hunstanton in Suffolk.

"We are both keen on motorbiking and didn't want to give up our hobby once we got Harley as one of us would have had to stay at home and look after him," said Tina, 47, from Turves, near Peterborough, Cambs.

"We didn't like the idea of leaving him at home all day while we went out as he would start to fret.

"So we came up with the idea of buying a side car and tried Harley in it up and down our road and amazingly he loved it.

"Now he comes with us wherever we go. As soon as he hears the sound of the engine he races to the garage and if Alan ever goes out on the bike without him he pines at the window."

Alan has always been passionate about biking and has had motorbikes since he was 16.

Tina became bitten by the biking bug when she met Alan, 62, and when the couple got married in 2004 they even rode to their wedding on a Harley Davidson.

They bought Harley, who is 6ft tall on his hind legs, when he was eight months old from a family who couldn't cope with the large dog.

Now Alan rides the Honda, with Tina on the back and Harley in the side car.

The couple have even bought the hound his own doggles and a crash helmet so he is safe on the road.

"He loves going in the side car but we found...

    Woman Unearths 'Extraterrestrial' Carrot
A green-fingered woman from Sussex got a surprise after pulling what appears to be a baby alien from out of her vegetable patch.

Yvonne Darnell found the unusual shaped carrot while gardening at her home in Burgess Hill.

The 2-inch long extraterrestrial vegetable features a head, complete with green shoots as hair, a body and two spindly legs.

As a well known acupuncturist, Yvonne has been dubbed 'The Baby Whisperer' for her ability to help women to conceive against medical odds.

However, this is, no doubt, the most unusual baby she has ever had a hand in creating.

The Camel Who Came To Breakfast
It's not every day you can say that a camel has shared your breakfast - unless you're Nathan and Charlotte Anderson-Dixon.

Each morning they and their 18-month-son Reuben are joined by pet camel Joe, who pokes his head through their conservatory window to help himself to something to eat.

The three-year-old happily munches eats bread, fruit and cereal plucked from the table at the family's detached country farmhouse.

Joe, who measures 17.5 hands, loves bananas on toast but hates toast with cheese or Marmite.

He lives with four other camels but is the only one to share breakfast with his owners.

The others have to eat hay, barley, straw and corn mix in their stable in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Nathan, 32, has owned Joe for two years and uses him for camel racing.

He said: "The first time Joe joined us for breakfast he was uninvited. He leaned in and rudely helped himself to the fruit bowl.

"But I wasn't surprised because he's very good at persuading all the other animals to give him their food too.

"Now he comes over most mornings and hovers around in anticipation.

"He is like a big soft giant teddy bear and has become part of the family.

"We open the window and he puts his head through to take bread and fruit from the table.

"His favourite treat is banana on toast but he turns his nose up at bread with cheese or Marmite.

"Joe is like a big brother to Reuben.

"Reuben thinks it's quite normal to sit and have breakfast with a camel.

"He likes riding ponies and it won't be long until he is riding Joe."

Nathan, who runs a company that hires out animals for special events, joked: "Despite his regular visits, Joe hasn't mastered a knife and fork yet."

Boxer Dog Slobber takes to the road for a spin on the back of owner Dick Rickman's Harley Davidson.

BIKING BOXER IS HOUND OF THE HARLEY

Biking boxer Slobber is living life in the fast lane on the back of his owner's Harley-Davidson.

The hairy hound got a taste for life on two wheels rather than four paws when he was just a puppy.

One day owner Nick Rickman took him to work in a wooden box on the back of his pushbike. Slobber enjoyed the journey so much that Nick built him a special fibreglass unit to allow him to ride pillion on his £12,000 motorcycle.

After checking with police that the move was legal, and kitting the Harley loving hound out with a pair of 'doggles' to protect his eyes against flies, the dynamic duo can now often be seen whizzing at 70mph along the roads of Salisbury in Wiltshire.

The barking about biking mutt has clocked up more than 300 miles in the eight years he has been riding with Nick.

And there is nothing the unlikely pair loves better than going out on Sunday road trips together.

"You see people in their cars doing double takes to check if it is really a dog or just a really ugly woman," jokes Nick.

"We always get a wave when people overtake us and I'm sure Slobber raises his paw to say hi".

He added: "There aren't many places I have visited without my favourite riding partner".
