A blind thrill-seeker has been able to travel the globe and take in some of the world's most beautiful sights - thanks to an amazing pair of high-tech, £9,000 glasses. James Laird, 24, was registered blind aged just eight after being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) a rare, genetic disorder. Adventure-loving James was left with just five per cent vision with severe difficulty seeing at night and the loss of his peripheral vision. But thanks to a pair of specially-designed AR - or Augmented Reality glasses - he is now able to do and see many things that he thought he would never be able to. These include scuba diving in the Red Sea, watching a space rocket launch in Florida and quad-biking in the Sahara Desert. The glasses are equipped with cameras which focus and enhance what is around him. Speaking of his remarkable journey James said: “When I was young I was told about my diminishing eyesight and vowed from the get-go that I’d never let it stop me. “My dream was always to travel.
