A screen-less phone without the apps that is made for young children has hit the market.
The UK company behind the device, called The Messenger, is meant to help youngsters aged from five to13 become more independent.
At the same time it gives parents peace of mind.
It's designed entirely around voice messaging, so mothers and fathers can chat with their child one-on-one, or connect them with other family members in a group conversation.
It features a dot matrix display, a speaker, and a "slide to talk" button in the centre.
Users slide this button down to listen to a voice message just received, and slide it up and hold to record a reply.
The Messenger , by London based startup Karri, uses a data-only SIM and doesn't come with a phone number.
It only works with a paired mobile app on a parent's phone.
It means parents don't have to worry about strangers contacting their children.
