BARONG PROCESSION THROUGH A RICE-FIELD, BATUBULAN VILLAGE, BALI, INDONESIA
Rice and religion are inseparable on Bali. Once a year the villagers of Batabulan bring their barong, a fabulous, mystical creature symbolizing goodness, out of the temple. They carry him in a joyful procession through the rice-fields and down the river to the sea, where he is handsomely bedecked with votive gifts. Barong is a fictional character in the mythology of Bali. A mythical jungle beast, friend of the human beings, fighting against Rangda, queen of the witches, the evil. In Bali each region, each village of the island has his own Barong. The protective spirit for it's forests, lands and rice fields. During the year the Barong is stationed in his temple. Given food and attention. Several times of the year the Barong comes out of his temple and walks through the rice fields as an animal with four legs. Two adult men are slipping into the Barong and are dancing through the village and the rice fields. for the Balinese and even for the tourists the Barong is the most spectacular and important mask. He is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of Rangda in the mythological tradition of Bali. (FOTO: DUKAS/MICHAEL FRIEDEL)

Lindsay Chong Seng is the director of the "Seychelles Island Foundation", an organisation responsible for the conservation of Aldabra and the Vallee de Mai, which have been listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. As a scientist, Chong Seng writes about the natural wonders of the Seychelles, the origins of the granite islands and the unusual features of their flora and fauna.
The island, once inhabited is a bird sanctuary since 1973. It was bought by Christo per Cadbury for the Royal Society for Nature Conversation. 1975 the Seychelles government declared the island a special nature reserve. The small community was moved to other islands. The island was given back to nature.

FISHERMAN WITH OCTOPUSES, SOURCE DÔARGENT, LA DIGUE ISLAND, SEYCHELLES
Fisherman with a spear returning home with a load of octopus. During full moon the octopuses are coming up to the shallow reef and the fisherman are able to spear them. Octopus is a favorite dish for the locals. The granitic islands of the Seychelles - the granite rocks - are of volcanic origin. Looking over 750 million years out of the sea they are one of the eldest landmasses of our world. Wind-, rain- and water-erosion has shaped these rocks into unique sculptures. An open museum telling the history of your planet.
Huge granite rock-formations, innumerable deserted, unspoilt beaches and sheltered bays are the typical of the landscape and are the trade-mark Unique Rock-Formations are the landmark of the Seychelles. However, they are but a small part of the unique natural attractions which the islands can offer the visitors.
The Island of La Digue has a large population due to its fertile soil. Anse Cocos, Grande Anse and Source d'Argent are the most beautiful and spectacular beaches on the Seychelles.
"Pointe Source d'Argent", or Silver Spring Point, is the name given by the inhabitants of La Digue to this bit of coast. It is said that a fabulous pirate treasure lies buried here, still to be discovered. The huge blocks of granite make up the most impressive rock-formation in the archipelago. They also provided the backdrop for Roman Polansky's film "Pirates."

NEWS - Solarenergie kann zu Vogelsterben führen
Breaking News, March 17, 2016 Ivanpah the $2.2 billion dollar Solar project in the California desert, famous for frying birds that fly to close may have to shut down.Googles good intentions in the quest for clean energy sometimes has inadvertent environmental harm,Streamers are what Federal wildlife investigators call birds that fly through the concentrated sun rays and burn to death at the rate of one streamer every 2 minutes. Ivanpah officials dispute the source of the so-called streamers, saying at least some of the puffs of smoke mark insects and bits of airborne trash being ignited by the solar rays.Federal wildlife officials said Ivanpah might act as a mega-trap for wildlife, with the bright light of the plant attracting insects, which in turn attract insect-eating birds that fly to their death in the intensely focused light rays.Google is one of 3 partners to invest millions in the 2.2 billion dollar BrightSource Energy plant, its largest solar energy plant in the World built at Ivanpah Dry Lake, California.More than 300,000 mirrors, each the size of a garage door, reflect solar rays onto three boiler towers each looming up to 40 stories high. The water inside is heated to produce steam, which turns turbines that generate enough electricity for 140,000 homes. Ivanpah Dry Lake, California October 9,2014 (FOTO: DUKAS/PHOTOSHOT)
