Two thousand miles driving and more than a fortnights hard campaigning face Mr W Craven Ellis, formerly Conservative member for Southampton and now National candidate for the Ichen consitiuency of that city, before polling day in the General Election.
Mr Craven Ellis is conducting a mobile campaign from a caravan towed by a Ferguson tractor.
The campaign is a family affair, the candidate's daughter, Mrs Doris Campbell of Home Farm, Branshaw, in the New Forest is driving the tractor.
Places of honour go to a black cat and a huge horseshoe that have been the Craven Ellis lucky emblems for 25 years.

SHE 'S AN ESCALATOR GREASER
Latest recruits to London Transport 's army of women war workers are greasers for escalators. The task is an extremely dirty one, and the women are, therefore, provided with overalls and head coverings. They work in gangs of four under a male supervisor.
