A survival horror video game is cleaning up on line— as players face different kinds of horrors in the form of a filthy mansion which needs cleaning.
Japanese chemical company Kao, whose Magiclean brand of household cleaners has released the game called Silent Cleaning and is available for free on gaming site Steam.
In the game, players inherit a remote property that’s been abandoned for years.
They decide to sell it but first have to clean every inch of it before the real estate agent comes over for an appraisal.
The house has a complex layout that needs to be negotiated.
The gamer must seek out a range of Kao cleaning supplies to clean the bathrooms, kitchen and floors/
They must also solve puzzles to access different areas of the house.
To add jeopardy there is a creature that is blind but has extra-sensitive hearing.
Scrubbing too loudly brings the monster to end the game.
Players can reduce this jeopardy by choosing to leave some cleanser only half-rinsed or dying a horrible death.
According to Steam, it takes about an hour to 90 minutes to complete the game.
Like in many survival horror games, players can be rewarded with a high-tier weapon.
In the game it is the Magiclean EXPOWER limescale spray.
The goal is to escape the house leaving it spick and span.
