    British salesmen listened to some authoritative advice on how to sell their goods to the great American dollar market today when eleven top American sales executives spoke at the first of a two-day series of conferences in the Connaught rooms, great Queen Street, London. The conferences are sponsored by the national sales executive, Inc., an international body with over 12,000 members. Purpose of the discussions is to help British increase sales to America by showing the way that the right goods are on the market in the right manner.

    THRUST INTO OPERA STARDOM

    Two excellent opera singers - both destined for eventual stardom -- had starring roles thrust on them at Covent Garden, London, tonight. They are Rosina Raisbeck, a dramatic soprano, and Thorstein Hannesson , a tenor .
    Both were in the cast, but were asked to take over the leads in the opera ' Lohengrin ' , when Edith coates and Franz Lechleitner became suddenly ill with influenza.
    Miss Raisbeck joined the company after her arrival from Australia in 1947. Mr.Hannesson came to England to study five years ago. This is his 2nd year with the company.

    The Earl and Countess of Harewood and Mr . and Mrs . Erwin Stein , parents of the Countess , were guests at a reception in the royal Albion Hotel, Brighton, Sussex, which followed the world premiere in Brighton's Theatre Royal of the new play ' Stratton'.
    The party had attended the performance of the play, written by Ronald Duncan with music by Benjamin Britten.
    Both Duncan and Britain are friends of the Earl and Countess and jointly wrote the anthem ' Amo Ergo Sum ' which was sung at their wedding.
