A new video- game is cut above the rest - with players working to mow lawns instead of battling monsters,

Lawn Mowing Simulator VR is made for virtual reality headset the Meta Quest.

Players get to choose a ride-on mower from a stable of machines from different manufacturers.

The gardens they have to work on also come in lots of different styles and locations.

Players don't just crop the grass.

They must also ensure their mowers are maintained in optimal condition and win contracts to work ion other people’s lawns.

The activity has been developed by Curve Games.

It comes after the game appeared to have been predicted by long-running animated series the Simpsons back in 1998 when the family visited a fair with a “yard work simulator.”

Welcome to my micro museum. Brian Radam - British Lawnmower Museum - Southport
Brian Radam - British Lawnmower Museum - Southport.

‘Brian May once called me up and offered me his mower’: Brian Radam, British Lawnmower Museum, Southport.

I’ve always been interested in anything mechanical. In 1940 my father opened a locksmith shop and was constantly taking on other items for repairs. When I was a kid, he was always fixing up lawnmowers. One day the back of our yard became so full of metal that we had no choice but to plan a trip to the tip. Most needed serious restoration, but as we tried to clear the yard out, the prospect of dumping them didn’t sit conformably. Instead, we took them into the shop and put a few on display. From then on, customers would come in with old mowers they were planning on binning and offer them to us.
Today we have more than 1,000 machines and we still exhibit hundreds in that very same building.
