Yemen: Aden's changing alliances erupt into four-year conflict's newest front. Fighting in the south between separatists and government forces points to why peace is even more elusive. The civil war has become a devastating proxy conflict and the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The Yemeni Civil War is an ongoing conflict that began in 2015 between two factions: the Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi led Yemeni government and the Houthi armed movement, along with their supporters and allies. Both claim to constitute the official government of Yemen. Eighty per cent of Yemenis, about 24 million people, depend on aid to survive and half of that number are on the brink of famine.
