The giant panda Chengji gave birth to the baby panda Chengjiu on July 8th, 2014. Unlike other black and white pandas, the baby pandas were gray and white when they were born. Now the baby pandas gradually turn black and white.

Baby echidna, nicknamed 'Bonsai' due to its small size, being cared for by Taronga Wildlife Hospital supervisor, Annabelle Sehlmeier, who has taken on the role of surrogate mum
Baby echidna recovers from chicken attack, Taronga Zoo, Sydney, Australia - 28 Apr 2016
A baby echidna is making a remarkable recovery at Taronga Zoo, after being attacked by chickens in a family?s backyard. Taronga Wildlife Hospital supervisor, Annabelle Sehlmeier, has taken on the role of surrogate mum to the echidna puggle, providing round-the-clock care and feeding it a special milk mixture from the palm of her hand. The puggle was brought to Taronga earlier this month with scratches over its belly and hind legs, after being rescued from a group of chickens in a backyard near Newcastle. It was also dehydrated and unusually small for its four months of age. ?We?re not sure if the baby was alone because its mother died or because it was accidentally dug out of its nursery burrow,? said Annabelle. The puggle ? which is still too young for vets to determine its gender ? received emergency first aid and has since made a terrific turnaround in Annabelle?s care. Nicknamed ?Bonsai? due to its small size, the echidna has grown from 400 grams to 530 grams in two weeks.

Swan nicknamed 'Asboy' attacks other animals, people and boats near River Cam, Cambridge, Britain - 14 Oct 2013
The son of vicious swan Mr Asbo has been attacking punters and birds on the River Cam in Cambridge - but was put in his place when he tried to take on a cow. The bird, who has been nicknamed Asboy, appears to be following in his father's footsteps by terrorising rowers and punters on the famous Backs in the university city. His dad, Mr Asbo, was moved to a secret location by the river authorities last year after he attacked numerous rowers, biting their arms and legs. Now residents fear he has been replaced by Asboy, who has moved upstream and is now targeting tourists in punts. Recently, tourists screamed in horror as they saw him viciously attack another swan, grabbing it by the neck with his beak. Asboy tried to drown the other swan, holding its neck under the water for about 15 seconds, then when it wriggled free he sat on it. The swan only escaped when its partner came to the rescue.

MONGOLIA / Choir / 2008. Abandoned Soviet military base after the collapse of the USSR. By the early 1970s, monuments to the Great Patriotic War became ubiquitous features of the Soviet landscape. A soldier named Alexei served as a model for one of the first, since then these monuments are affectionately nicknamed 'Alyosha', its affectionate name form. At the base of the statue an inscription reads 'All that was built by the people, must be imperatively defended'. The area in front of the statue was used for military parades. Around 10-15,000 soldiers, personnel and their families were based here.
Eric Lusito - Traces of the Soviet Empire
FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/p8ug
These haunting photographs show the remnants of the once all-powerful Soviet empire.
They are the work of Eric Lusito, who spent six years travelling throughout the former Soviet world from East Germany to Mongolia, from Poland to Kazakhstan to seek out remains of the military installations that embodied the ambition and the might of the USSR.
Describing himself as working like an archaeologist, the French photographer says his project "Traces of the Soviet Empire" is a photographic record of the land and architecture - haunted by the symbols and history of a once powerful Empire.
The on-going project takes the form of three series: exteriors, interiors, and found photographs "images from another time, another space and another world".
What he found was colourful propaganda wall art, faded frescos of Lenin, discarded gas masks, and huge monuments, including those in the shapes of a soldier and a sword.

The son of vicious swan Mr Asbo is following in his father's footsteps by terrorising punters on the River Cam in Cambridge during the peak summer season. The feathered fiend, who has been nicknamed Asboy, is targeting terrified tourists as they row and punt on the famous Backs in the university city. His dad, Mr Asbo, was moved to a secret location by the river authorities two years ago and had his wings clipped to stop him returning after he repeatedly attacked and bit rowers. Now he has been replaced by Asboy, who rules the roost on the River Cam by swimming up and down pecking at punters and flying into families on the waterway. The swan attacks any boat which gets too close, including canoes and rowing boats.
