Yemen: Aden's changing alliances erupt into four-year conflict's newest front. Fighting in the south between separatists and government forces points to why peace is even more elusive. The civil war has become a devastating proxy conflict and the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The Yemeni Civil War is an ongoing conflict that began in 2015 between two factions: the Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi led Yemeni government and the Houthi armed movement, along with their supporters and allies. Both claim to constitute the official government of Yemen. Pictured: Mustafa al Adel, a guard employed to watch over the ruins of the Dhamar Detention facility, shows the place where his brothers body was found on 11 September, 2019. The community college campus, turned detention facility by the Houthi, was bombed by coalition planes on the night of 2 September, 2019 leaving more than 100 people dead and many other wounded. According to survivors the facility was used by the Houthi to detain civilians they arrested and Hadi government soldiers.
