October 7 survivor Yair Vizner
EXCLUSIVE: October 18, 2023 - Ramat Gan, Israel: Injured Yair Vizner, 37, with his father, is putting on Teffilin. On October 7th 2023, Yair Vizner, a father of 4 from Kibbutz Kerem Shalom, was injured while taking part in the emergency squad of the Kibbutz. On that morning, upon the missiles alarm, Yair and his wife Shlomit entered the safe room with their four children. Shortly after, Yair was called up to fight with the emergency squad. He fought in fierce battles with his comrades, and hit many terrorists who tried to infiltrate. During the battles his two hands were seriously wounded by RPG fire, and he had to go through a long rehabilitation process. Here, putting on Teffilin in his kibbutz house to which he and his family returned. The Battle of Kerem Shalom took place on October 7, 2023, as part of the October 7 massacre, during which dozens of terrorists from the Hamas terrorist organization stormed the Kerem Shalom kibbutz and outpost. The kibbutz's alert squad, reinforced by soldiers from the Nahal Brigade, engaged the terrorists in battle and succeeded in stopping them from carrying out a massacre in the kibbutz. Two members of the alert squad were killed in the battle. Kerem Shalom ("Vineyard of Peace") is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located on the triple Gaza Strip-Israel-Egypt border. The kibbutz was established in 1967 by members of Hashomer Hatzair, a socialist-Zionist youth movement. The founders chose this name with the hope that the kibbutz would play a role in establishing peace and ending the Arab–Israeli conflict. (Ziv Koren/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

October 7 survivors Sivan Pauker and Ori Lupu
EXCLUSIVE: October 18th, 2023 - Ramat Gan, Israel: On October 7th, 2023, Sivan Pauker,21, was injured in his girlfriend's Ori Lupo' s apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza youth residence. Starting early in the morning of October 7th, missiles were shot to Israel from Gaza while Hamas terrorists invade Israeli settlements around Gaza, murdering and kidnapping dozens, including hundreds of young participants at an outdoor party. On this morning, Sivan and his girlfriend Ori Lupo, woke up to the missiles alarms and entered the apartment's safe room. When the terrorists arrived and tried to open the safe room's door, Sivan kept it's handle locked with his bare hands. Finally, the terrorists shot the door and hit his two hands. At some point, Sivan and Ori, who was also shot in her leg, managed to escape to Ori's near-by parents' house, where she improvised a tourniquet and held it in place for 8 hours, until rescuers arrived. Sivan had to go through a long rehabilitation process of his hands. Here he is in Sheba Medical Center being treated for his wounds. (Ziv Koren/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

October 7 survivor Erez Yasken
EXCLUSIVE - August 20, 2025 - Ramat Gan, Israel: On October 7, 2023, Erez Yasken (57) from Kfar Aza Kibbutz was injured while holding the door from the inside as it was bombed by Hamas terrorists. He threw himself in front of his wife and daughter and held the front door shut, doing everything in his power to keep the terrorists from entering his home. Determined to get in, they fired rounds into the door and even tried blowing it off the frame with explosives. Despite being hurt, Erez never gave up holding that door closed, knowing that if they came in, it would be over for him and his loved ones. With severe injuries to his legs and hands, Erez believed that at any moment the army would come to the rescue, but hours would pass before they arrived. When they finally did, he was in the middle of a firefight between terrorists and the armed forces. Upon discovering him, army officials moved Erez to a house with a paramedic, but it wasn’t good enough. They saw that he had to be evacuated out of the Kibbutz and given serious medical care. While speeding out of Kfar Aza in the back of an army vehicle, they were ambushed by terrorists trying to thwart their escape. Two soldiers suffered fatal injuries, but the driver and Erez were unscathed. He finally made it to Sheba Medical Center where he underwent 12 surgeries in his hands and is scheduled to be operated again in the future. Erez is still attending daily rehabilitation sessions in Tel Hashomer hospital. (Ziv Koren/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)
