'Peace Walls' in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Britain - Mar 2009
Eleven years after the Good Friday Agreement, the walls segregating Belfast's Catholic and Protestant communities are still as towering and divisive as ever.
The bombings and army patrols may have become memories, but these razor wire-topped 'peace walls' serve as constant reminders.
However, the recent murders of two soldiers and a policeman in two separate ambushes carried out by the Real IRA have shown that tensions are still running high and terrorism in Belfast is still alive and kicking.
Rather than wanting them torn down in a celebration of peace and resolution, like Berlin in 1989, locals actually want them raised still higher to prevent further episodes of violence that have recently been plaguing the area.
Pictured in the set is one of the first 'peace walls' to be constructed: the wall of Bryson Street, designed to keep separate the fiercely loyal Protestants of Cluan Place from the Catholic communities of neighbouring Short Strand.
