Former MasterChef contestant, Dee Virdee who is suing an ambulance service after a series of blunders she suffered after she had a stroke, Walsall, West Midlands. See NTI story NTICHEF. A former MasterChef contestant plans to sue an ambulance service, claiming she suffered a series of blunders by paramedics when she had a stroke. Dee Virdee, 34, who ran her own catering business, appeared on TV in MasterChef in 2015, getting through to the second round. After suffering a stroke on June 30, she claims she was first taken to the wrong hospital and then was violently thrown out of her seat when the ambulance braked suddenly to avoid a collision – alleging paramedics failed to fasten her seatbelt. She is now taking painkillers for serious shoulder pain after banging it when she “went flying” in the ambulance during the near-miss incident. Ms Virdee, who has a six-year-old son called Dya, had the stroke at her home in Alumwell Road, Walsall, West Mids., and was picked up by an ambulance from the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS). Although she claims stroke patients are supposed to be taken to the Stroke Unit at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, West Mids., she was instead taken to Walsall Manor Hospital. / action press *** Local Caption *** 27669721

Bob Sharpless, 74, says he is a victim of "cost cutting" after he was sent home from hospital because the health service refused to fund the procedure because of his "poor prognosis."
After being diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus in August last year, the pensioner has developed a serious heart condition caused by chemotherapy.
Last month, Bob was told that his heart is only working at 20 per cent capacity since undergoing treatment for cancer and he was rushed into Royal Blackburn Hospital on January 21 to have a pacemaker fitted.
After being kept in overnight, the great grandfather of six was discharged the following morning after being told he couldn't have the expensive procedure because of his poor cancer prognosis.] (FOTO: DUKAS/ACTIONPRESS)
