BEACH ANSE LAZIO, PRASLIN ISLAND, SEYCHELLES
Anse Lazio with its fresh-water lagoon on Praslin island is a favourite open-air studio for international fashion photographers. Its tranquility was briefly disturbed by jet-skiing and inflatable "bananas", but the government put a stop to these noisy water-sports. On the horizon you can see the island bird-sanctuary of Aride.
Praslin Island is the second largest island of the granitic Seychelles. It has over 5000 inhabitants and can be reached by boat or plain. Praslin has the larges number of hotels and tourist. It¹s also the home of the Coco de Mer. The Vallée de Mai and its forest of Coco de Mer palms is a must for every tourist.

Millions of years of total isolation have led to the development of animals and plants which exist only on the Seychelles. It became undisturbed by human civilization in a warm and tropical environment.
The eastern slopes of the highest peak of the archipelago, the 2968 ft (905m) high Morne Seychellois in Mah?'s National Park: it was here in 1841, at an altitude of 2000 ft (600m), that the carnivorous pitcher plant was first discovered. ISLANDS COUSIN AND COUSINE, SEYCHELLES
The bird sanctuary Cousin close to the shores of Praslin is inhabited by over 250.000 seabirds and about four giant turtles. The island is visited by tourists transported on a dinghi. Stormy weather makes a visit impossible sometimes.
The islands of Cousin and Cousine lie off the west coast of Praslin. In the background are the islands of Mahé and Silhouette. Cousine is privately owned and a small luxury hotel with 4 bungalows has been built. Since 1968 Cousin has been a bird-sanctuary where visitors are welcome three days a week. A white painted staircase is leading to the orthodox chapel on top of the island. The village is surrounded by terraces. An ancient way of agriculture.The largest village is Hora. It is built on the edge of a great rock, 200 metres above sea level. In Hora there is also an imposing stronghold consisting of houses, which begins in the middle of the village and ends at the edge of the precipice above the sea.

Although there was a promise never to build a hotel on this beautiful beach, there is a top luxury hotel blocking part of the access. One of the largest and perhaps the most beautiful of Mah?'s beaches is Anse Intendance on the south coast. A luxury resort has been built on this beach. Bathing is dangerous, especially during the south-east monsoon, from May to October, because of the big waves and strong currents; but it is wonderful for body-surfing.
