Israel nationwide protest and strike for ceasefire and hostages' release
August 17th, 2025 – Tel Aviv, Israel. On the 681st day since October 7, 2023 attack, a nationwide strike has been announced across Israel. Hundreds of thousands of citizens joined the day of protests, blocking major roads, gathering in city squares, and rallying outside the homes of ministers and members of Knesset, demanding the immediate return of hostages held in Gaza. The Hostage Families Forum condemned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s response to the protests, accusing him of failing the abductees. Protests were reported at the Kaplan Junction and along the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv, as well as in cities across northern and southern Israel. The Hostage Families Forum, backed by businesses, restaurants, and organizations across the country, declared the strike under the slogan: “Return all the abductees in one deal and end the war.” A sticker on a bus station post with the portrait of Menachem Begin reads "Begin is ashamed of the Likud party. We are all saying goodbye to Netanyahu". (Ziv Koren/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)
