Saroj Bhagri lost her grandson in the crush: 'I have lost my eight-year-old grandson son Chahat Bhagri. We arrived yesterday night and went for a bath in the river late in the night. We were sitting near the river afterwards having some food. Suddenly people started pushing and falling over us and trampling us.' Relatives search for lost loved-ones at a lost & found centre. Diwali on the Square celebrations
Family-friendly celebration of the Festival of Lights brings together Londoners and visitors in the heart of the capital to enjoy a programme of dance, music, activities and food.

Showcasing the best of culture from London’s Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities.
The afternoon opens with a burst of colour and music as 200 traditionally dressed dancers are set to perform in the centre of Trafalgar Square.

Activities include dance workshops, yoga and meditation, comedy from Soho Theatre, Sari and Turban tying and the Glimpse of Goddesses stall where visitors can find out more about Hindu goddesses.
