  • Homeless of Athens

    Homeless of Athens
Jan. 8, 2013-Athens, Greece: Psychologists and sociologists from the City of Athens Homeless Foundation (K.Y.A.D.A) roam the city with a van full of blankets, sandwiches, raisins and juices to give to the homeless. They suggest hostels for short term accommodation where the homeless can go for a bath, eat and sleep especially on very cold days. Research data suggest that the number of street homeless people and those in transitory shelters in the city of Athens is approximately 11,000. 3,000 Greeks and 8,000 foreigners. Poverty in Greece increases due to unemployment, high -extra- illegal taxes. The rise in the cost of living threatens Greeks' ability to buy food. Pensioners feel it the most.
