Kashmir Apple Growers Face Huge Loses Due To Floods And Highway Blockade
Apples smeared with mud hang from trees during the harvest season at an orchard that floods last week in Pulwama, South of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on September 15, 2025. Apple growers in Kashmir face heavy losses as recent floods from continuous rainfall damage many orchards during the peak harvest season. The problem worsens by the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, which stalls fruit-laden trucks. The combined losses to the apple industry, a major part of the region's economy, are estimated at around Rupees 700 crore. (Photo by Firdous Nazir/NurPhoto) -

Indian Railways Begins Apple Parcel Train Service From Kashmir To Delhi
A loaded railway parcel van carrying apples is pictured at Budgam Railway Station in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on September 11, 2025. Indian Railways operates a daily parcel train to transport apples from the Kashmir Valley to Delhi, officials say on Thursday. The move brings relief to the horticulture sector in the region. Recent floods in Kashmir damage apple crops, and farmers struggle to transport their harvest due to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44), which is severely damaged by incessant rainfall, triggering landslides and washing away portions of the road. PICTURE SHOWS: Hetty the fox checks out a mouse in the stables
A keen wildlife photographer has snapped a series of photos of wild animals in a spooky set-up ahead of Halloween.
Richard Bowler from Corwen, North Wales, has spent many years photographing some of the wild animals on his land and building trusting relationships with them.
In one picture, local foxes Hetty and Charlie are seen gently checking out a tiny mouse.
In another image, Capone the Barn Owl sits on a Pumpkin surrounded by Halloween decorations in Richard's home.
Richard said of the series: "Having been in local and now national lockdown for a few weeks now I decided to produce some seasonal images with the animals that share my life with while staying at home."
