    CHINA-BEIJING-MIGRANT WORKERS (CN)
(110915) -- BEIJING, Sept. 15, 2011 (Xinhua) -- A man buys second-handed cloth tailored by female relatives of migrant workers in Picun Village, Chaoyang District in Beijing, July 27, 2011.
Beijing Migrant Workers Home is a non-profit civil organization which is committed to serve migrant workers for the advancement and improvement of their social, cultural, educational, legal and living conditions.
At first, a worker's band was established in 2002 by Sun Heng, a migrant worker who had several years of working experiences as a teacher, a porter and a street singer. The band gave free performances for migrant workers. Then, with the initial investment of 75 thousand RMB (about 11,700 U.S. dollars) of copyright royalty of the band's first album, Sun and his bandsmen founded a school, Tongxin Primary School, for migrant children in 2005, supported by more than 100 university volunteers and fellow workers. In the school's summer camp this year, migrant workers' children came to in Beijing to join their parents. "While my child is around me, it makes me feel like home", said Wang Ceng's parents who both work in a wood company. In 2006, Tongxin Shop was established by the Migrant Workers Home. The social enterprise collects surplus and donations from those who are "better-off" and to sell to low-income population in very reasonable price. The profit generated from this is used to supporting community, cultural and educational activities for the migrant workers and their children.
Beijing Migrant Workers Home is regarded as a warm and beautiful place for migrant workers.
