Tory candidate for Croydon Central Gavin Barwell in Addington Village. Housing Minister Barwell today promised a review of fees for buyers and renters in a bid to slash red tape in the UK property market. Modernising the process would involve a fresh look at conveyancing and valuation fees, bank transfer fees and search and valuation charges. For renters the Conservatives will propose a ban on landlords prescribing particular cleaning companies in their tenancy agreements.

Boomtown Rat: Bob Geldof joins the Lib Dem candidate George Turner on the election trail in Waterloo.
Bob Geldof has blasted the Liberal Democrat campaign as “lousy” and “invisible” and berated the party for not asking for his help earlier. The outspoken Brexit opponent joined Vauxhall candidate George Turner and activists on the final day of campaigning against pro-Brexit Labour candidate Kate Hoey. Sir Bob, 65, said: “I think the Lib Dems missed an open goal. It’s a lousy campaign. Where are they? It seems to be fairly invisible really. Certainly Farron isn’t getting the time, and when he is, I find him about as convincing as Corbyn and May and he shouldn’t be because they’ve been consistent throughout about where they stand [on Europe].” However he lavished praise on local Lib Dem activists working across the country and urged them to continue their push for a second referendum after the election.
