NEWS - STOP: Neue Kampagne der Stadt Genf gegen Littering am Wilson Quai
"Preserve our city, stop littering! New slogan for a new campaign against littering by the City of Geneva. A giant "STOP" (of plastic) filled with all kinds of rubbish has been installed on the edge of the Eaux-Vives beach and giant rubbish has been placed on the Wilson quay on the right bank of the lake. The aim was to encourage people not to throw away their cigarette butts, cans or plastic bottles in the street. Every year, the Geneva City Council collects nearly 5,000 tonnes of waste in the streets, a third of which is on the ground, i.e. more than 13 tonnes per day for a budget of around 30 thousand euros. HANDOUT PHOTO. French environmental NGO in the Mediterranean Sea shows masks and gloves littering the seabed. Opération Mer Propre (Operation clean sea) is trying to clean up the coast near the Côte d'Azur resort of Antibes ( may 14, 2020) and Cannes (may 21, 2020) It is appalled by this new coronavirus pollution, which adds to the already chronic problem of plastic pollution.
