Britain's Prince Harry competes in a polo match at the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic held on Governor's Island. The game drew a crowd of stars like Madonna, Kate Hudson, Chloe Sevigny, LL Cool J, Marc Jacobs as well as ordinary New Yorkers. It was a fundraiser for Sentebale, the charity Harry set up with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho to help poor children and AIDS orphans in Lesotho. Harry's team won 6-5 after he assisted on the winning goal in the last seconds, drawing the biggest cheer of the afternoon. ///

Amazon announces release of latest Kindle reading device
Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., Chairman of the New York Times Co., announces a partnership with Amazon to make the NY Times available on the Kindle to areas not able to purchase the paper at the launch of the Kindle DX at a press conference held at Pace University in New York City. The newest version of the digital book is both larger and pricier - $489 as opposed to the earlier $359 model. Amazon hopes to attract textbook publishers to its digital platform and has partnered with several universities for a rollout of the device this Fall. ///

Whole Foods supermarket opens in New York city's Tribeca neighborhood. The 69,000 square-foot Whole Foods, now open at 101 Warren Street, is the company's 274th store nationwide and the fifth in New York city. The Tribeca Whole Foods features expansive views from the second-floor cafe, which features a dessert and gelato bar and a coffee shop. New features include house-baked artisan breads, a shawarma station, and a bulk-bin dispenser of specialty salts and seasonings. ///
