Himalayan Peaks Visible Over Kathmandu After Heavy Rain And Flooding In Nepal
A bird flies over the Kathmandu skyline as snow-capped Himalayan mountain ranges appear in the background after a day of continuous rainfall in Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 5, 2025. The rainfall clears the skies after triggering widespread flooding and landslides that block major highways across the country, prompting government rescue operations and repair works to restore transport links. Germany: Economy Shrinks More Than Expected In Second Quarter
August 22, 2025, Berlin, Berlin, Germany: Fresh data showed Germany's economy shrinking more than expected in the second quarter. Analysts pointed to weak industrial output, sliding investment in construction and machinery, and sluggish export demand as key factors. The downturn comes as higher U.S. tariffs on European goods weigh heavily on Germany's export-driven industries. (Credit Image: © Michael Kuenne/PRESSCOV via ZUMA Press Wire (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)

Flip out: swimming with seals at Montague Island on the NSW south coast.
Montague Island (known as Barunguba to the local Yuin people) off Narooma is teeming with wildlife. Guardian Australia photographer Jessica Hromas travelled there to document the unique environment, home to hundreds of Australian and New Zealand fur seals as well as sea lions and more than 90 bird species.
Only charter boats with permits are allowed to take people to scuba dive and snorkel with seals at Monatgue Island. The boats leave from Narooma. NSW Parks and Wildlife conduct the tours on the island.

Despite their size, seals are surprisingly agile both in water and on land. For safety, people should always keep their distance: 40 metres for adult animals hauled out on land, and 80 metres for pups whether they are in the water or on land.
