Elizabeth Cameron Dalman at 91: 'In dance we are ageless'
Elizabeth Cameron Dalman at 91: 'In dance we are ageless'

With a career spanning more than six decades, the pioneering co-founder of Australian Dance Theatre is still dancing - just don’t ask about the age thing.

Elizabeth Cameron Dalman is a pioneer and icon of dance in Australia. She is also the owner of the Mirramu Creative Arts Centre in Bungendore, just outside of Canberra and happens to be over 90 years old - but as she puts it, we don't talk about age because dancers are 'ageless'.

Indigenous voice opponents' call for more detail is a furphy, Noel Pearson says.
Indigenous leader says referendum will be won if yes campaign can 'find the better angels' in Australian community.

The Indigenous leader Noel Pearson says politicians' calls for detail on the voice to parliament are disingenuous and a "furphy", stressing it would be the job of those very MPs to help design the body after the referendum.

The Cape York leader and voice architect said campaigners still had time to make the case for change to voters, suggesting the referendum would be a contest between Australia's "better angels" and "dark devils".

Noel Pearson is an Australian lawyer, author, activists, a co-author of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and is has been doing a speaking tour to campaign for a 'Yes' vote for the referendum on an Aboriginal Voice to Parliament, 22 July 2023.

Unite and conquer: how Alex Greenwich plans to make NSW more progressive
Alex Greenwich Independent MP for Sydney, photographed at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst, Sydney. 27 October 2022.Eyes on the future: NSW independent MP Alex Greenwich is seeking to ban LGBT conversion practices and prevent discrimination in schools if he's re-elected.

'‘There's never been a better time to be an independent,' says Sydney MP celebrating 10 years in office.

When Alex Greenwich achieved what many before him had failed to do by getting voluntary assisted dying legislation through the New South Wales parliament, it was a triumph for the independent MP's trademark unifying tactics.

The bill introduced by the progressive MP for Sydney was co-sponsored by 28 MPs, more than any bill in Australia's history. When it passed parliament in May this year NSW became the last state in Australia to allow euthanasia for people suffering from terminal illness.

'If not now, when?': PM addresses first meeting of volunteers to educate Australians about voice referendum
Sydney's Inner West council aims to train 1,000 people for a civic education program that could become a model for other jurisdictions.

The prime minister has committed to "throwing everything" at implementing an Indigenous voice to parliament at a surprise appearance in his home suburb of Marrickville.

Speaking at a packed Uluru Statement from the Heart summit on Friday night, Anthony Albanese addressed the first meeting of volunteers who have signed up to educate Australians about the voice.

Enshrining an Indigenous voice in the constitution is the first step to reconciliation prior to treaty, Albanese said.

"The Uluru Statement from the Heart is a generous, gracious and optimistic invitation to all Australians."
