A ceremonial dress worn by actress Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in the first ever Star Wars movie is coming up for sale at auction — and is expected to fetch up to $2 million USD.
Fisher is seen in the low-cut white gown as she presents medals to Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford and Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill in the closing scene of 1977’s A New Hope.
The dress is thought to be the only surviving Carrie Fisher costume from the original Star Wars film.
It is being sold as the highlight of a movie and television memorabilia sale in Los Angeles being over three days from June 28th with over 1,400 original items valued at around $12 million USD.
The sale is being organised by UK company Propstore and the Leia dress was in the collection of Propstore founder Stephen Lane.
OPS: Other highlights include he pink embroidered long coat Kate Winslet wore as Rose in 1997 blockbuster Titanic which she is seen wearing as the liner begins to sink. It could fetch up to $200,000 USD.
