THE CAR WASH CRAZY HOT WAX HOUDINI

A Canadian escape artist has managed to make a clean getaway from his latest stunt.

Dean Gunnarson was sprayed from head to toe with searing hot wax, water and soap as he attempted to escape after being chained to the roof of a vehicle going through a car wash.

In a tribute to his hero, American escape artist Harry Houdini, who died on Halloween in 1926, Gunnarson was chained and handcuffed to the top of the vehicle as it was driven through the car wash.

Gunnarson's goal was to wriggle free before the SUV reached the massive blow dryers at the end of the cycle.

Commenting on the stunt he said: "This may not be as death-defying as some of my other escapes, like being locked in shark cages underwater, but this still has elements of risks for me".

As the vehicle started its journey through the carwash, two huge rotating brushes bore down on his body.

Soap then blasted away at his eyes and water spewed from both the sides of the wash, making unpicking the locks tricky work.

He finally managed to free himself as hot wax sprayed down upon him; taking the final chain from around his neck and kneeling up to give a victory cheer.

Gunnarson has been an escape artist for 20 years and has been featured on television specials in the United States, Japan and other countries.

One of his most notorious stunts saw him tied up in chains and cuffs, dangling 200 metres over a Nevada gorge. Another saw him chained across a busy roller-coaster track in China, working to get free before being run over.
