The town of Jilemnice boasts a snow sculpture of the legendary Krakonos giant.
Krakonos giant snow sculpture, Jilemnice, Krakonos giant, Czech Republic - 25 Feb 2018
The sculpture was created by the artist Josef Dufek at the main square in Jilemnice city again. Jilemnice is a town known as the gateway to western Krkonose. It was founded at the beginning of the 14th century by the Waldstein family as an economic and market centre of the Stepanice estate, later the Jilemnice estate. The origin of the name of Jilemnice is indicated in the municipal coat-of-arms, depicting an elm tree in a silver field. Jilemnice is also known and famous for its skiing tradition and is often called the Cradle of Czech Skiing.

Small enough to be used legally on the pavement or inside a shop, the GBP 5,500 QTvan is so named because it caters to three peculiarly British obsessions: caravans; queuing and tea. The tiny caravan is ideally suited to queuing overnight for the sales or tickets for Wimbledon fortnight, and boasts tea-making facilities to make any long wait bearable.According to the Environmental Transport Association (ETA), the QTvan is ideal for the estimated 220,000 people who use a mobility scooter without breakdown cover, and who face the prospect of a very long wait should they suffer a mechanical fault or their battery runs flat. Spokesman for the ETA, Yannick Read, said: (FOTO:DUKAS/REX)

    Converted Courthouse Is A Steal
Most homeowners pray to never have a thief step foot in their home but for one couple their house has seen a parade of criminals pass through its doors.

For Christine and Leo Austin live in a converted former court house in Downham Market, Norfolk.

Before it became a home the building boasted 140 years' worth of thiefs, bankrupts and other unsavory characters who were judged and sentenced in what is now the living room.

The Old Courthouse, as it is now called, was built as a local County Court in 1849 and 'Petty Sessions' were carried out each Monday.

The most common criminals to stop into the court during these sessions were bankrupts, who made up a large number of the cases heard.

In the 20th Century the building was downgraded to a magistrates court and was eventually closed altogether in the early Nineties.

The property then stood empty until 1998 when the Austins brought it at auction for GBP 59,000; they have recently put it back on the market for GBP 595,000.

After the Austins purchased the building they undertook an extensive renovation project, including be re-roofing, re-wiring and damp-proofing amongst other things.

The couple carefully preserved all of the original features they could, including the plastered ceilings and swings doors in what had been the main court room.

Panelling from the old witness and defendants' boxes was reused to form an office gallery overlooking what is now the main living room.

Meanwhile, the former press box in the same room still features carvings created by bored reporters.

The bespoke country style kitchen was formerly two cells with a roof built in sandstone but today features blue cupboards, black countertops and wooden floors.

The octagonal entrance hall was a former waiting area joined to the rest of the buildi...

Here's an idea that will never take off - a hostel aboard a JUMBO JET.

The world's first built guesthouse onboard a real Boeing 747-200 has touched down at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

Guests (or is that passengers?) have the chance to sleep in the cockpit of the aircraft - which comes complete with throttle controls.

You can even wake up to the sight of real planes taxiing on the airport's runways through the windows.

The staff also dress as cabin crew - with many of them actually former air hosts and hostesses.

The plane has a reception and lounge area, complete with candlelit tables and a retro company logo, and a choice of 25 rooms.

Prices ranging from GBP 29 for a dorm bed to GBP 275 for the cockpit double, which includes private bathroom and breakfast, meaning this overnighter offers both budget flight and long haul-equivalent prices.

"It's just fantastic and unbelievably exciting to finally be able to show something so unique and special for the rest of the world," says Gisela Olsson, Site Manager at the Jumbo Hostel.

Originally delivered to Singapore Airlines in 1976, the jet also spent time in Cathay and Pan Am fleets.

But now it is grounded indefinitely could be there be any better way to join the TEN METRE-high club
