An ultra rare Hermes Birkin bag inspired by the Himalaya mountains has sold at auction for $250,000 USD / €237.530 euros.
It is believed to be one of the top five highest prices ever paid for the sought after fashion accessory which is made from Nile crocodile skin.
The 25cm matte white Himalaya Birkin featured 18k white gold hardware set with 4.05 carats of brilliant diamonds.
It was sold by US based saleroom Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas.
A spokesperson said: “Crafted from Niloticus Crocodile, a rare and exquisite material, the hand-dyed bag draws inspiration from the snow-dusted peaks of the Himalayas, with a colouring process so detailed that it ensures each Himalaya Birkin is truly one of a kind.”
Heritage luxury accessories director Diane D’Amato said: “The Hermès Diamond Himalaya Birkin is nothing short of exquisite.
“It’s a work of art and the pinnacle of rarity, artistry and luxury.”
The bag measures 25cm high, 20 cm wide and just under 13 cm deep with 18k white gold hardware featuring 4.05 carats of round brilliant pavé-set diamonds in the plaques, touret, pontets, lock, and keys.
The interior is done in grey leather, featuring one slip pocket and one zip pocket.
The most expensive Hermès Himalaya Birkin 25 sold at auction went for just over $440,000 USD / €418.920 euros in 2022.

The seventh largest diamond ever found has been recovered from a mine in Africa.
The Canada-based Lucara Diamond Corpsaid the massive 1,080.1 carat / 216 gram diamond, was found at its Karowe mine in Botswana.
The stone measures 82.2 mm long and is described by experts as a Type IIa top white gem of high quality.
It isn the seventh-largest diamond ever discovered and one of the top five largest colourless diamonds of all time, according to the Natural Diamond Council and Only Natural Diamonds.
The Karowe mine has produced some of the largest diamonds of all time.
Roughly half of the ten largest diamonds discovered have been found at the site.

The artwork is painted using 4.5 billion years old meteorite dust, amorphous carbon and graphite powder with 1,000 carats of crushed genuine black diamond set in resin in the centre. Bowen uses the study of Chromology, the psychology behind colour, as a way to communicate non verbally through her work. Preview of STARTnet Art Fair at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea.
