A limited edition Rolls-Royce Ghost limousine has been unveiled — with an animated headliner that replicates a solar eclipse.
As the doors close and the engine is started, stars in the headliner darken, sparking a sequence replicating the dark silhouette of the Moon completely obscuring the Sun.
In the animated sequence, a circle of 940 stars is formed, representing the bright corona of light around the lunar silhouette.
This is surrounded by a further 192 points of star light, recreating what the UK company describes as “the otherworldly spectacle of stars visible in the sky during daylight, which occurs only during a total solar eclipse.”
The animation remains visible for exactly seven minutes and 31 seconds – the longest possible duration of a total solar eclipse.
Once the time has elapsed, the full star constellation in the night sky is restored.
The headliner is part of the standard equipment for the model, called the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection of which only 25 cars will be made.
